Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh received Chairman of Japan PFI – Mr Kazuo Ueda

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh said, Vietnam's economic growth rate is very fast in recent years. Investment activities used a lot different capital sources in many industries.

In the previous years, most of investment for development mainly used State capital. After 30 years of renovation, Vietnam has changed; the capital source is more diversified, including mobilization of private sector. The Government of Vietnam encourages some types of investment through public-private partnerships (PPP), especially for large projects to create favorable conditions for project implementation when the government budget limited.

The Ministry of Construction is the government management organization in the field of construction, therefore it is good to have support from PFI, especially in planning legal documents related to PPP investment forms. Hopefully, many units in the Ministry of Construction will have more specific exchanges after the meeting today, Deputy Minister Sinh said.

Mr. Kazuo Ueda also expressed his thanks to the Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh and shortly introduced PFI. The PFI established in 1999, successfully operated during the past 20 years. The association played an advisory role for ministries, sectors and private enterprises when participating in PPP projects. In Japan, the PFI has combined with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) to make agreements on public-private partnerships between the parties.

Mr.Kazuo Ueda wished that PFI will be a bridge between Vietnam and Japan to further promote the implementation of PPP in Vietnam.
