Minister Tran Hong Minh inspects the progress of Long Thanh International Airport project.
At the site of more than 5,000 hectares, Minister Tran Hong Minh and the working delegation directly inspected many key items such as the T1 - T2 connecting road, runway no 2, the aircraft parking area and the front area of the passenger terminal. All of these components are being accelerated in construction and entering the final stage to serve the project inauguration ceremony on December 19th, 2025.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the entire project has mobilized nearly 14,000 engineers, workers, experts and more than 3,000 modern equipment. Despite the prolonged heavy rain, contractors are still flexibly adjusting construction methods, taking advantage of every sunny hour to make up for the progress.
Up to now, out of a total of 15 main packages, 3 have been completed, the remaining 12 packages are being implemented at high intensity, many packages have shortened the progress by 3 - 5 months compared to the plan.
Among these, package 4.6 (runway, taxiway, and aircraft apron) has been basically completed, exceeding the schedule by three months. Package 5.10 (passenger terminal) has finished the roof and is now being rapidly completed in terms of interior finishing and landscaping, aiming to be ready for the inauguration ceremony on December 19. Package 4.8 (technical and internal airport roads) has completed priority routes, viaducts, and power stations, with gradual handover beginning in October 2025. Package 6.12 (T1/T2 connecting road) has completed the technical clearance for Route 1, and the entire package is expected to be finalized in November 2025. Other packages including the fuel system, parking lots, cargo terminal, and wastewater treatment facilities  have all accelerated their progress, keeping closely aligned with the target operation timeline in 2026.

Speaking at the inspection, Minister Tran Hong Minh praised the urgent and professional working spirit of the units, and emphasized that in order to achieve the goal of welcoming the first technical flight landing on December 19, 2025, there is not much time left, so contractors need to speed up the progress to complete, and must do everything neatly and cleanly.
The Minister requested ACV to focus on completing the access road from T1 to the passenger terminal area, 2 runways, ensuring aesthetics. In particular, the second runway project must also be basically completed before December 19th, 2025. After completing the priority items, the project will continue to research and prepare conditions for the implementation of the third runway.
